Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
What a great promise in Scripture that we have full access to the Father for those who are in Christ Jesus. I am so thankful and grateful whenever I read this Scripture verse because there is no reason for me not to draw near to the Throne of Grace.
In chapter 4 of Hebrews, Paul was speaking to believers that we could have rest in Jesus Christ. Sometimes our life becomes so full with unexpected circumstances and those who are not in Christ don’t understand when Christians go through trials. How comforting to know that we can take rest in Jesus Christ. As believers we have the freedom to approach the throne of grace without any type of fear, without doubt knowing that we are reconciled to God the Father through Jesus Christ the Son. He hears our cries and sees the core of our hearts. From history books we have learned that many kings who sit on their thrones are not always merciful to their people. The difference with the King of kings, who is Jesus, is that He is always merciful to all sinners who seek mercy and grace.
One thing non-believers need to know is that Jesus Christ will not have mercy on Judgment Day because it is too late to cry out for salvation.
In the Book of Matthew 27:50-51 it says that Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up His Spirit. And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth shook and the rocks were split.
Beloved, that is why we have the freedom now to approach God and lay our requests before Him without fear and trembling. No one has ever conquered the grave except Jesus Christ.
To quote Matthew Henry: We are to come with reverence and godly fear, yet not as if dragged to the seat of justice, but as kindly invited to the mercy seat, where grace reigns. We have boldness to enter into the holiest only by the blood of Jesus; He is our Advocate, and has purchased all our souls want or can desire.
1 Timothy 2:5-6 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
For as long as I have been studying and reading the Bible, I am still yet to find that it is okay to pray to Saints, Mary the mother of Jesus or anyone else beside the Triune God. When God gave Moses the “Ten Commandments” He didn’t say that we are welcome to have other gods. God didn’t create mankind so we could worship other people or pray to idols.
Revelation 4:11 You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things, and by Your will they were created and have their being.
Exodus 20:3-5a
“You shall have no other gods before me”
“You shall not make for yourself a carved image-any likeness of anything that is in heaven above or that is in the earth beneath, or that in the water under the earth”
“You shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God.”
He is a God who is never tired; He is a God who is always waiting and ready to answer prayers. When my husband and I pray before we go to sleep, sometimes we both are very tired and almost half asleep while praying. Sisters, we have a God who never sleeps and who never slumbers.
I have heard many people make this statement and it makes me sad because they don’t understand the Word of God. “We can pray to God, it doesn’t matter what we call Him, all religions have the same god, and it is just a different path”. My friends don’t believe that because it is rubbish.
There is only one faith that believes in the Lord Jesus Christ and that is the Christian Faith. Jesus made it clear to a Pharisee by the name of Nicodemus what is required of him to see the kingdom of God. John 3: Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God”. What exactly does Jesus mean here? He means that it has to come from above. To be Born Again is to have a genuine heart of admitting that you are a sinner who needs forgiveness, asking God to forgive your sins, believing that Jesus Christ died, was buried and rose again on the third day. No one can forgive your sins, a priest, a pastor, or anyone, as a matter of fact only Jesus Christ can.
There is a new movement that has started for sometime in some churches and they are misleading people to believe that they can believe in any other kind of religion and still have a relationship with Jesus. There is no scripture to back their statement. In John 14:6 Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me”.
For The Unbeliever: Only when we truly have a relationship with Jesus Christ then we can draw near with confidence to the throne of grace because God answers the prayers of those who have faith in His Son Jesus Christ. My friend if you don’t have a relationship with Jesus Christ, my prayer is that you will ask the Lord to reveal Himself to you. He saved me, a wretch who deserved hell and I know that what He did for me, He can do for you.
Let Us Pray: Father I thank You for Your word and your promises. Thank You for giving us Jesus and Salvation and because of Your gift we can draw near to the throne of grace with great confidence knowing You hear our prayers.
